What we keep
| Information | Why |
|---|---|
| Account: your email address, and your sign-in method (email and password, Google or Apple). Passwords are handled by Google Firebase Authentication; we never see them. | To sign you in and keep your account secure. |
| Profile: username, display name, photo, city and country (which you type in; we don't use your device's location), interests, and whether your profile is public or private. | To show your profile and let people find you by name. |
| Your habits: monthly plans, tasks, the days you complete them, and the notes and photos you post. | This is the app: tracking your progress and showing your stats. |
| Social activity: who you follow and who follows you, claps, comments, the people you block, and reports you make. | To run the social features and keep them safe. |
| Notifications: a push token for each device, your reminder settings, and your time zone. | To send the reminders and notices you've turned on, at the right local time. |
| Subscription: whether you have Habit Connect Pro, your plan, and when it renews or ends. Payment details stay with Apple or Google; we never see your card. | To unlock Pro and remind you before a free trial ends. |
| Agreements: when you accepted these terms and the Content Rules. | To keep a record of your consent. |
| Crash reports: when the app crashes or hits an error, a report of what went wrong: the technical error details, your device model, operating system and app version, and your account ID (not your name or email). Kept for 90 days. | To find and fix problems in the app. |
We don't use advertising, we don't sell your information, and the app contains no analytics or advertising trackers.
Who can see what
- Your profile (name, username, photo, city, country, interests, follower counts) can be seen by anyone signed in to Habit Connect, except people you've blocked.
- Your activity (completed habits, notes, photos) can be seen by anyone signed in if your profile is public, or only by followers you've approved if it's private.
- Comments and claps on an entry can be seen by everyone who can see that entry.
- Your plans, reminders, notifications, journal and account details are visible only to you.
Photo checks
Before a photo you post is shown to anyone, it's checked automatically by Google Cloud Vision SafeSearch for adult, violent or racy content. Photos that fail the check are not published. Photos are not used to identify people.
Reports and moderation
If someone reports your post or comment, it's hidden while it's reviewed, and a copy is kept for the reviewer. Content that breaks the Content Rules may be removed. A record of removed content is kept so decisions can be reviewed.
Who processes your information
- Google Firebase (Google LLC): sign-in, database, file storage, server functions and crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics). The database is in London (europe-west2); photos are stored in the United States (us-east1); some server functions run in the United States (us-central1); crash reports are processed in the United States.
- Google Cloud Vision: the automatic photo check above.
- RevenueCat: manages Pro subscriptions. It knows your Habit Connect account ID and your purchases, not your name or email.
- Apple and Google: payments for Pro, and sign-in if you use Sign in with Apple or Google.
- Expo (650 Industries): delivers push notifications to your device.
Some of these providers process information outside your country, including in the United States. Where the law requires it, these transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account in Settings > Account > Delete account. Your account is deactivated at once: nobody else can see your profile or activity, and you're signed out. If you sign in again within 90 days, the deletion is cancelled. After 90 days everything is deleted for good: your profile, plans, activity, photos, comments, follows and sign-in. Claps you gave stay on others' posts as a number, without your name, and reports you made are kept with the content they're about.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your information, to object to or restrict how it's used, and to complain to your data protection authority. You can change most of your information yourself in the app. For anything else, contact info@habitconnect.com.
Our legal bases for using your information are: providing the service you signed up for (contract); keeping the app safe, including photo checks and moderation (legitimate interests); and your consent for notifications, which you can turn off at any time in Settings or your device settings.
Children
Habit Connect is only for people aged 18 and over. If you believe someone under 18 has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above, and for significant changes we'll tell you in the app.
